Hilton Head, South Carolina is a lovely Atlantic island on the southern tip of the state. It was a stunning location for the second big milestone that I celebrated with family in the States, my cousin’s wedding. The island is covered in beautiful trees with fresh sandy beaches. Nearly two dozen of the bride’s extended family stayed in a monstrous beach house. We stayed up late chatting and prepping for the wedding. We also had a chance to walk on the beach and see a bit of the island.
Hilton Head Harbortown Lighthouse
At one end of the island is a small waterfront village with shops and restaurants surrounding a miniscule harbor. At this point stands a classic, red and white lighthouse, just one of many in the archipelago. This lighthouse is open for visitors, so we climbed the stairs and watched the sunset from the fantastic vantage point.
The Wedding
The wedding was held on a beach. All morning there were small showers roaming through the area, including at the time to begin. However, I think due to lots of prayers, the showers moved on just at this moment and the sun peeked through the clouds. It was short but lovely ceremony followed by lots of fun at a nearby pavilion for the reception. Congratulations to Meilian and Preston!
