Adventure Patches as a tour company has been a dream a long time in the making. It’s interesting how a pandemic that shut down tourism was the catalyst to make this happen. I guess that’s 2020 for you. That’s when Kevin took the leap of faith to start giving tours he had been thinking about for nearly 15 years. these include his walking tours in downtown Salt Lake City. Beyond that, Kevin has developed several tour options in and around northern Utah. These include private customizable tours, group walking tours, and field trip tours for homeschool students. When travel restrictions lift and places reopen for tourists, Adventure Patches will begin offering international and domestic U.S. tour options. International locations may include China, Mongolia, South Africa, Australia, and more. Adventure Patches currently offers tours directly and through ToursByLocals.com and Airbnb Experiences.
A Travel Resource
The Adventure Patches blog started in 2010 as a college assignment. It highlighted local adventures around the BYU campus that students and others may not have been familiar with. When Kevin left Provo, he continued blogging about fun adventures he had in Texas. Then, when he lived in China for the first time, the blog became his scrapbook. This allowed him to share his Chinese journey with his family and friends back home. Since then, the blog has covered Kevin’s adventures in 33 different countries and territories. These travelogues give insight into places to see and things to do in places like India, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, and China.
Why Adventure Patches?
Have you ever been a part of an organization or had a hobby where you receive a badge or pin for achievement and milestones? As a kid, Kevin earned badges as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. But, he collected more patches than just those. Whenever his family would go on vacation or he would travel with the Texas Boys Choir, he would get patches as souvenirs. Over the years, he has collected hundreds of them from around the world. Each patch represents an adventure, a memory from a great place or event.
